This may be my last marathon for a while
Runs (some overlap from last week's blog)
Mon- Rest
Tues- 5miles
Wed- 9 miles, (2 warm up, 5x1000 at 6:45 pace, 3 cooldown)
Thurs-12 miles (great run, ran many miles in the low 8s)
Fri-Rest
Sat- 5 miles-recovery effort
Sun - 17 miles, 14 at MP (avg 7:33, many into the wind miles)
Total: 48 miles
Mon:- Rest
Tues: - Rest- my legs felt trashed from Sunday and I got out of work too late to do my run.
Wed: 8 miles (4 warm up, 5x1000 at 6:20 pace, 2 cooldown) - my legs still feel tired, but I was very encouraged that my pains get better at faster speeds and that I was able to keep splits of (2:26, 2:18, 2:23. 2:26. 2:22 after running 4 miles)
II was very encouraged by the fact that I was able to do 14 miles at very close to MP. My MP is 7:27, and I averaged 7:33. My slow miles were into the wind, but I didn't speed up to compensate when I was withteh wind. The only negative was I took Ibuprofen before the run. I did that with my first marathon when I had ITB issues. I didn't need it for marathons 2 and 3. Ideally I wouldn't do it, but seeing the glimmer of hope that I can get a 3:15 makes me think that I will use Ibuprofen to get through the hardest runs (mainly the long runs) and take some extra days off during the taper.

"big news soon"!?!
Wait. Let me guess. You're packing up the family and moving to Venice to become a gondolier? Am I close?
